My boyfriend is in Army JROTC and has invited me to go to the military ball with him. Im in Air Force JROTC so I understand how important this dance is. I want to look my honest best so I need a beautiful hairstyle.
I have medium length dark brown hair. It's wavy, but I straighten it so it's straight all the time.
Any suggestions would be great and if you can find a picture to go with it, that would be the best thing possible.
my dress is black and backless if anyone needs to know that.

Since this will be a jrotc I think you should wear your hair pulled back off your face with a pretty pin in your hair and a little curl not alot just some bounce maybe a couple of curls close to your ears by your face and for goodness sake just wear a smile and be your self that will be more noticeable than any thing Good Luck to you I know you will be the Belle of the ball

You could just leave it wavy instead of straightening it.

a gorgeous look are always updos with hair accents added like a little flower that goes with the dress maybe a silver color or a modest but sweet tiara not one of a queen resemblance

it depends on what kind of dress you're wearing. if it's strappy or off the shoulder, you could do an up-do. if it's strappless, stick with it down. curl it or something, but don't go with it straight, it'll look too blah. if you go with down, make sure to get body, but not too much, you don't want to look like a peacock. if you can't afford to go somewhere to get it done, you can do it at home with a lot of hairspray and mousse. if it goes with your dress, you may even be able to get away with a glitter spray, just not too much because that stuff gets everywhere!! =]

Definitely a up do. Depending on the image you want to convey, you could do it slicked back and then once back, free and curly, or you could do it loosely up with wisps coming down.
Its hard to say not seeing you, but I think a military ball is a time to go all out with your hair. To look sexy, classy and great is what one would strive to at a ball for sure. A classic french twist, a fishtail braid. A Victorian poofy wispy thing. The way your gown sounds though, I tend to think maybe the slick, sexy but curly in the back thing sounds good.
For sure don't wear your hair down. In my opinion of course :-)
Above all, have fun and take pictures. :-)

You might want to, at least for the moment, embrace your inner "wavy." If your boyfriend hasn't seen it wavy, he'll be fascinated with your "new" locks. Black sleek hair bands are very NOW, which would look fantastic with a loose updo. If you want to keep your hair straight, jeweled hairpins are gorgeous. My sister (who has curly hair) straightened her hair for her wedding and had her stylist twist the front sections back on the side with a clip to give her style depth.

A nice chignon updo should do the trick. But if you are wearing a dress with lotsa cleavage wear a necklace for sure!

are you comfortable with it up? if you aren't you won't be comfortable in a dress with makeup and heels with it up, either. you want to be comfortable. you don't want to be constantly worrying about your hair.
you need to know your body type. if you have a big booty and tiny on top you don't want to wear your hair all on the top of your head. you'll look like 2 circles connected by your back. (like weights). for this kind of body type you want something going on in the back of it.
i wish i knew how to put pictures on here.
